The huge silver plated punch bowl 17" dia x 11" high sits on top of the enormous original turned base which alone measures near 18" dia x 8.25" high making the trophy almost 20" high! It was made by the Meriden B Company of Connecticut which in 1898 became the International Silver Company. The bowl features a Horse Race in progress on 1 side with the other blank, ready to be engraved. The handles are formed by 4 realistically modeled forequarters rearing out of 4 horse shoes. Please note that my photos do not do justice to the actual quality. The bowl has been re-plated at some point. There are tiny bumps the size of pin pricks scattered about which does not deter from the beauty of this piece. The interior is clean but shows some pitting. The base is gigantic as mentioned and consequently very heavy. It retains its original lacquer finish which is in excellent condition. The pieces that the wooden base is comprised of show no evidence of separation. A fabulous Equestrian presentation or decor piece not often seen.
