An original pencil drawing from the estate of artist/author C. W. Anderson, along with the book the drawing appeared in.
Pencil drawing of a horse and rider going over a jump. "#23" in red at bottom of drawing. Matted and framed. Caption on the mat reads "In a case of bad style over fences the judges shall afix (sic) a penalty for such faults". Sight view measures approximately 10.5" x 7.75", with a total measurement of 14" x 11". Back has a photocopy of the book jacket this drawing appeared in, and there is a stick at the top reading "Estate of C. W. Anderson". Condition: The drawing is in excellent condition. The frame is cracked.
Also included is the book: Horse Show by C. W. Anderson. New York: Harper & Brothers, 1951. First Edition. 88p., green dust jacket with b&w illustration, green cloth, brief foreword by the author, full-page illustrations on nearly every page.
83 lively sketches offering all the humor and excitement of the horse show that annually packs crowds into Madison Square Garden. Many of Anderson's drawings are funny picturizations of the official rules. Others are amusing sidelights on familiar horse-show figures. Book Condition: Jacket is worn, with rubs, closed tears, small losses, etc. Boards have light shelf wear. Interior clean and sound.
