Advertising ashtray for "Byrrh", a French aperitif wine, made of red wine, quinine or tonic water, herbs and spices. First developed in 1866 by Msr. Violet, Byrrh enjoyed a long history of Art Nouveau and Art Deco poster advertisement in the late 1800's and early 1900's. This ashtray dates from a later period. Produced by "MDL- St. Amand-Hamage-Orchies-Nord, France". Hollow body, measures 3 5/8" x 5 3/8" oval x 2.5"h. No chips or cracks. Sold by Inglenook Antiques...Established 1990.
