Buick They Have Lot More Coming Ad 1944 This is a May 6, 1944 advertisement. It is a nice color ad from Buick Division of General Motors. Buick makes the Pratt and Whitney aircraft engine that powers the Liberator Plane. this plane was instrumental in bombing the Ploesti OIl Fields. Ad reads, More than 1500 officers and enlisted men representing all states took part in the Ploesto raid representing all states in the Union ttk part in the Ploesti raid which knocked out 42 percent of Rumanian oil refining capacity. Two participants in this action received the Congressional Medal of Honor, and 50 received the Distinguished Service Cross or Oak Leaf Clusters for that medal. Bombs set for delayed action lest the blast rip the tails off their chimney skimming Liberators, they came out so low that when they got home, some of their bomb bay doors still carried wisps of hay picked up in passing.
