This flamboyant bronze features a typical 1920ies beauty in an erotic pose, "Beauty of Night". She is wearing a short and frilled dress that reveals her youthful breasts as it only held by thin straps at the upper body. The girl wears long gloves that play tightly around her arms enhancing her ballroom style garment. With her right hand she is lifting the seam of her garment. We can see that she wears garters and high healed shoes. Her pose stands in contrast to her outfit as she is lifting one hand in a halting posture and her eyes are cast down in a shy manner. The large bows in her neatly done up hair enhance her "innocent" look, but overall cannot trick the beholder about this beauty's sense for frivolity. SIZE: 12 inches height. CONDITION: Very good. Typical in the style we know from the Austrian artist Bruno Zach this sculpture was crafted with much attention for detail. Besides the lifelike expression on the dancer's face we see finely rendered details such as hair or the naturalistic drapery of the costume. The artist signature is an artwork of its own - in prominent handwriting covering almost a third of the base - "Bruno Zach" incised deeply at the plinth. the sculpture measures 12 inches tall and would make a fantastic gift or addition to any 20th century collection.
The famous Austrian artist Bruno Zach was born in Vienna and worked in Austria as well as in Germany. In 1935 he immigrated to the USA. In the period between 1918 and 1935 he was best known for creating beautiful ART DECO sculptures. His favorite motifs were exotic dancers & nudes and his pieces often dealt with the roaring nightlife of the 1920s. For the US market he mainly made fine sculptures depicting Cowboys and Native Americans. In Austria he is particularly famous for his fine bronzes made for the Wiener Bronze - Vienna Bronze manufactory.
