This fabulous sofa was designed in 1971 by Bruce Hannah (1941-) and Andrew Morrison (1939-) for Knoll. It features its original psychedelic red and blue striped upholstery by Jack Lenor Larsen (1927-), which is in extraordinary condition. This pattern was featured in the exhibition, Improbable Impressions: Jack Lenor Larsen's Psychedelic Prints, held in 2006 at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. This retrospective focused on Larsen's designs from the late 1960s for his JaeL line of newly created synthetic knit fabric, and was the first-ever retrospective of Larsen textiles from this period. Measures 28 in (71.1 cm) tall, 108 in (274.3 cm) wide, and 19.5 in (74.9 cm) deep. The frame is constructed from steel with cream enamel finish, and features aluminum tubes along the top rail and seat rail from which four seats are suspended. There are nicks and chips to the enamel finish on left and right sides, and wear in a few spots to the lower and upper bars. This model was also produced in a lounge chair, and smaller sofa with three cushions, from 1972 to 1977. Additional images forwarded upon request. ( za- )
