An 1850 Bridgwood & Clarke Ironstone serving dish with lid, sometimes called a tureen, although it does not have the slot in the lid for a ladle. It is oval in shape on a pedestal base. It does have an old large chip which nicely accommodates the serving spoon...it almost looks deliberate. Not visible, except when lid is removed and inspected upside down. A hairline crack also near the finial. See photos. Foliate molding with a melon finial.
