Very nice late Victorian black slate and green marble mantel clock. Made by the British United Clock Co Ltd, Birmingham, England. It has the pretty enamel face that all B.U.C. clocks seem to have, with gilded metal outer ring. The slate has an engraved flower design to the corners of the case, with green marble side pillar detailing. Hinged door to rear. Clock measures 28.5 cm high, 22.5 cm wide and 13.3 cm deep (11.1/4 inches by 9 inches by 5.1/2 inches). It has a few areas of damage to the case: there is a chip diagonally across the rear top right-hand corner, and a shallow chip to the top edge of the same side. Also a chip to the underneath foot edge rear of side. Have not had this clock overhauled but it appears to be working well, and has ticked away all week. Its an 8 day movement. However, it needs regulating as it runs slow and the chime is out of sequence. It chimes the hour and the half hour. All together, a very good clock. Comes with pendulum and key. Very heavy though - probably not a good one to ship overseas.
