This is a nice clean steel back 10" long blade backsaw or miter saw. It is sharp and very straight. Ready to use, cuts very nicely! Nicely shaped handle, with a few minor bumps and scratches noted, nice smooth finish otherwise, looks good, solid, not cracked, firmly attached, good brass hardware. This saw has been well cared for. There is a nice logo and the mark "G.H. BISHOP & CO. CINCINNATI O. PAT. DEC. 27, 1887" on the handle medallion. The medallion has three cut marks on the sided, most likely used to help hold the medallion from turning while tightening it. There is no problem tightening the medallion now. The steel blade is very clean, no rust, some small areas of minor minor staining. There is a blade etch on this saw, it is rather light, but here is what can be read "GEO. H. BISHOP & CO. CINCINNATI OHIO HAND MADE SPRING STEEL 8 WARRANTED PATENT GROUND", it also has the same logo with wings in the blade etch, but the gargoyle is facing the opposite direction. Overall a nice clean back saw, ready to cut! I count 14 tooth points per inch. There is no missing teeth. Has plenty of blade left for future sharpening, measures 3.25" from top to teeth. A nicely made, top quality antique backsaw!
