Bakelite Monkey pin holder

I am not sure that this is a pin holder, but that was one item I could think of. The base is bakelite, but the monkey is probably carved bone or wood. It is in very good condition with the exception of one little pencil point chip on the base that can only be seen from the bottom view and I have taken a close up shot in the third picture. It is not significant but it isn't "perfect". It is absolutely charming.
