Awards Medal/Political/William Hale Thompson Mayor Committee Ribbon Pin

$49.00
Quantity available: 1

Well, what can you say about this medal? I believe it is a political ribbon. I believe it to be from the third term of the notorious Chicago mayor, William "Big Bill" Hale Thompson. I believe it to be an excusion medal, for lack of a better term, for a trip to New Orleans. It consisit of a bar pin inscribed "Mayor Wm Hale Thompson Committee" from which the medal is suspended from a red, white and blue grosgrain ribbon. The ribbon is soiled and frayed. The front of the bronze medal itself has a native American indian and a ship on each side of a shield. I believe the words in the banner at the bottom are the Chicago motto. The back is inscribed "New Orleans Trip Feb.1-6-1928. It has a makers mark that is just not real clear. It looks like WM. _ _ _ridge Co. Chicago. The medal and pin are in very good condition. The ribbon is approx. 1 1/2" wide and the medal is approx. 1 1/4" across and is approx. 3 1/2" long overall. The shipping fees quoted are for first class/Insured in USA.
