Gorgeous sterling silver serving fork in a wonderful Art Nouveau floral pattern by R. Blackinton & Co. of North Attleboro, MA. The pattern name is unknown, but the reverse is marked with a 1904 patent date. Blackinton is not well known, but their work was lovely. The firm was chosen to produce the sterling place settings for all U.S. Embassies around the world. Well-detailed flowers (they remind me of French marguerites) trail up the handle toward the curved tip. The tines are beautifully pierced with an undulating outline that mirrors the handle. The piece is very heavy--on a par with Gorham and Tiffany pieces of the period. I'm not sure what the fork's purpose originally was, but it works beautifully for a wide range of today's foods from meats to vegetables to pastries.

Origin: American, c. 1904. Condition: excellent, no monogram. Size: 7-3/4" long.
