French Art Deco Spelter & Alabster Figural Table Lamp by Hungarian Alexandre Kelety

Unavailable

This extraordinary lamp by the Hungarian-born sculptor, Alexandre Kelety, dates from the 1920s or 1930s and features a female figure in cast white metal holding a sphere of carved alabaster. Lamp rests upon a marble base. Measures 22" high, 9" wide and 9" deep and weighs an estimated 25-35 lbs. Signed " A Kelety". Old European wiring and plug does not appear to be original and the lamp is believed to be in working condition. Kelety was active in Paris from 1918 until his death in 1940, and was considered in his time to be the most important and influential Hungarian sculptor of the period. He regularly exhibited at the Paris Salons and his works were known to have been cast by Etling. He is reported to have exhibited at the Paris Exposition of 1925.  Additional images forwarded upon request.
