An antique apothecary scales made in San Francisco, CA by the Braun-Knecht-Heimann Co 584 Mission St. BKH was in business from 1852-1950. But this was likely made in the earlier years of the business. BKH early on became identified with mining and minerals. They supplied first the mines and then the scientific equipment for laboratories. This type of scale was used for weighing minerals and was useful in apothecaries. The body is cast iron and the plates are white milk glass. It seems to work. Needs adjustment. 14" long and 6.5" tall.
