Antique Victorian sterling enamel Butterfly aesthetic big brooch

If you have ever seen Tiffany and the detail that goes into the artists work, then you can appreciate this antique piece that has many of the characteristics of those artists. This is one of the most beautiful and detailed hand wrought sterling butterflies I have seen ( and I have seen hundreds). The black enamel edging around the delicate wings really gives this depth and as you can see on the flower it is hard to tell this is not real. Cobalt blues and baby blue enamel stand out against the green body. This is a magnificent piece and surely belongs in a museum. I would be surprised if this this was not the work of a famous artisan. This measures 2 1/3" across and has four individual parts for the wings to make it seem as if he is ready to lift off the flower. This is in great original condition. Any enamel loss on the body you see makes this look even more beautiful. To think this has made it well over 90-100 years and has remained in such pristine condition, amazes me. I really hope this heirloom quality butterfly brooch will go to a home where it will loved as much as it deserves.
