APPRAISER'S COMMENTS: .."nothing like this piece with as much detail work has appeared on the market in the last 10 years....there is an enormous amount of exceptional stitchery in this embroidery, not seen in today's marketplace, placing it in a much higher value category."

This hand woven embroidered tapestry presents showing a burgundy - maroon woven background and the design of the tree of life covering much of the center horizontal area. Most of the detail is executed in a gold, couched thread detail, showing many sparkling threads in the details. There are many areas of padded detail work and many areas of basket weave stitches, all held in place by couching stitches. Three sections of fabric are sewn together to complete this textile.

CONDITION: There are rubbed areas on seams in several places. On one area on the bottom right, the satin is worn through and the threads are showing. Otherwise the piece is in overall good condition. The backing is off -- the side border is newer material.

Approximately 8.5 feet long by 5.5 feet wide.
