Rare 17th century Turkish ottoman sword Karabela with Yatagan shaped blade. DETAILS: a hilt of characteristic form fitted with horn grips set with brass pins and a bronze cross guard with down turned quillons terminating in dragon heads. An extremely long recurved single edged blade of Yatagan style with a shallow fuller struck with the maker's mark. Condition: The blade is slightly pitted with age, one of the quillon with signs of old repair, absence of a brass pin on the hilt. A rare opportunity to acquire an authentic example of these very rare ottoman swords. The Karabela hilt swords were made in various types and diversity in Turkey, Poland, Russia, Balkans and Hungry. MEASUREMENTS: overall length: 93,5 cm (36 ¾ in), length of the blade: 80 cm (31 ½ in).
