A superb Spanish 17th -18th century huge sword Rapier. Details: broad tapering blade of flattened hexagonal section cut with three short slender fullers on each face, stamped on the respective faces Sebastian Hernanoez between a series of decorative marks, still hilt of faceted bars and pommel including a pair of vertically recurved qullons, knuckle guard and large convex shells guard with guardapolvo, the wooden grip bound with twisted silver wire. In its original vellum covered wooden scabbard with suspension stud and boat shaped steel throat specially fitted to the guard. Measurements: overall length with the scabbard; 109,5cm (43 1/8 in), length without scabbard; 109,5cm (43 1/8 in), length of the blade; 91cm (35 7/8 inches), width of blade at widest point; 3,2cm (1 1/4in). Condition: the sword is in very good condition except for a missing tip of the scabbard.
