Antique Sevres Style Porcelain Book Form Box

Unavailable
This unique antique dresser box is formed in the shape of a leather-bound book entitled " A. TRIANON , TOME I ". It measures 8.5 by 6.5 by 2.75 inches (21.6 by 16.5 by 7.0 cm) and weighs 3 lbs. 1 oz. (1.38 kg). Condition is very good. There is some craquelure throughout and no visible signs of restoration. The front and rear panels feature hand-painted scenes inspired by Versailles. On the front is a depiction of a woman of great importance (such as the Queen or Marie Antoinette) with children near a classical structure that may represent the Temple of Love. This panel is signed near the bottom, but the gilded decoration has covered most fo the signature. The rear panel depicts a lake or canal scene reminiscent of the Grand Canal at Versailles. The interior porcelain surface is not decorated and is fitted with a very old floral embroidered insert. This item resides with our client on the Upper East Side of Manhattan in New York and may be seen by appointment.
