Here we have a set of 2 dinning or side chairs in dark walnut from Europe. These chairs have tall straight backs and are in great condition. The center back splats and seats have cane inserts. The cane is in great condition with no breaks or splits that I can see. The crest rail has a nice traditional style carving on it and the stiles are topped with turned finials. The front legs are barley twist design and the wood grain shows so beautifully on these chairs. The seats are solid wood and the cane insert is stretched over the center section of the wood for a more secure chair. These chairs are very solid and sturdy. They are in great condition however the wood framing the cane seat is showing a little ware from years of use. See the photos below. I do not know the maker or exact date these were made. The chairs measure 42 ½ inches tall, 17 14/16 inches side to side and 20 inches front to back each. They weigh 17 pounds each. We do have more photographs that we can email if you are interested.
