We offer a large silk embroidery of Mary Queen of Scots being helped into a small boat. This scene probably represents the Queen in the process of fleeing probably after the Battle of Langside. Beautifully done on a silk panel there is also some wool work as well. This is typical of late 17th century work. It is an impressive large piece. Condition: there is some piecing of the silk due to degeneration, and the purchaser should have the piece stabilized by a fabric conservator. Otherwise it is extremely impressive and demonstrates high quality work. Measurements of the silk panel, not including the frame: 73 cm by 54 cm. The item is glazed but open to the rear. Shipping outside of the Nortth America will be done by Xpress Post. To the UK this will be some $125.00.
