This is a gorgeous antique pale green embossed salt glazed stoneware pitcher or jug with an art nouveau pewter lid from Staffordshire, England. The fabulous antique English molded relief saltglaze jug stands 8 inches high. The embossed flowers on it are superb. They look like daisies and there is an embossed basketweave base to the design. The metal lid looks like an art nouveau water lily leaf and has a lovely molded thumb finial. There is a bit of wear on the hinge but it still works. The lid has had a slight repair I think at some time. It dates from 1860-1880 and is from the Staffordshire potteries in England where I bought it. It is unmarked but looks like Brownfield. In very good ++ condition with no chips or cracks. Awonderful piece of mid victorian ceramic art.
