Original antique Russian Cossack's Soviet sword Shashka model 1927. DETAILS: A slightly curved single edged steel blade with a wide and long fuller. A spiral wooden grip mounted in brass struck with arsenal marking 599, the pommel is engraved with Soviet symbols, hammer and sickle, and "CCCP". A wooden scabbard covered in black lacquered canvas mounted with a large brass locket, chape and two mounts with loops for suspension.
CONDITION: The rust from the slightly pitted blade was removed by the previous owner, also the wooden handle was cleaned. Due to extensive pitting on the ricasso there are no markings visible, but it is possible that this is an older Czarist Shashka readopted by the Soviet army.
MEASUREMENTS: Overall length with the scabbard: 102 cm (40 1/8inches), the length without the scabbard: 94.7 cm (37 1/4inches), length of the blade: 80.5 cm (31 3/4 inches).
We guarantee that this is an authentic Russian sword, not a modern Chinese fix, which are frequently passing on the market by dishonest dealers as authentic.
