An extremely rare pattern antique early 19th century Russian Napoleonic war period time Sword Sabre with a brass hilt made in a characteristic style for an Imperial Russian Award Sword. DETAILS: A brass hilt cast from three separate elements: a grooved grip, an S-shaped crossguard with typical early 19th century Russian shaped langets, a backpiece with a ring for the tassel on the pommel. A curved single edged steel blade with a fuller showing a visible forging pattern.
MEASUREMENTS: The overall length is 86.5 cm (34 in).
CONDITION: The gold gilding on the hilt is worn out, the blade is with minor wear, since the hilt is made of several elements over the years the elements have loosened and to fix this someone soldered with tin the backpiece to the crossguard. The sword is in good condition considering its age with minor wear except that the gilding on the brass hilt is completely worn out.
