The Russian Icon is covered with silver riza and is gold plated. The workmanship is very fine. The riza is not pressed but hand chiseled and engraved. The Icon is made of solid silver on a wooden panel and is stamped with three hallmarks; 1) "A.K" in a rectangular frame 2) the capital letter "M" 3) the mark "84" with Saint George(Moscow silver mark) . The hallmarks are quite worn out. There are many of Russian silversmiths with similar marks, although I have found the closest to the hallmark "A.K" in the book "Russian Gold and Silver Works from the 15th to 20th Century" pg. 179 position 1208. The icon is in good condition except for some minor dents in several places, no repairs or restoration. The Icon is 8 ¾ inches (22.3cm) tall and 7 inches (18cm) wide.
