19th century Russian Cossack's / Caucasian sword Kindjal. DETAILS: slender tapering double-edged blade with a flattened diamond section, an iron hilt with a silver nielloed border, fitted with a pair of horn grip-scales and with chased nielloed gilded silver mounts, in its original leather covered wooden scabbard with large gilded silver mounts chased in low relief with niello arabesque panels decorated en suite with the kindjal mounts. The inner face of the locket is signed in Cyrillic.
MEASUREMENTS: Overall length with the scabbard: 52 cm (20 ½ in), the length without the scabbard: 48 cm (19 in), length of the blade: 36,3 cm (14 ¼ in).
