Antique Red Lacquer Box With Dragons

Unavailable
Small round red lacquer container for food with dragon paintings. Dragons are depicted flying among clouds. This dates from the Qing Dynasty of the late 1800's.

The Chinese designed an elaborate array of wooden and woven baskets, boxes, and buckets to carry and store things. Some were styled around specific uses--picnics, carrying fish, rice, or water. Some were used for special occasions like carrying "sweets" to a wedding party or a Chinese New Year celebration.

Today, many seem whimsical but always make a great accessory. Use them to hold your keys and mail, magazines, or hand-towels.

Silk Road Collection offers many types and styles of Asian boxes, baskets and buckets.
