hinese antique rectangular reddish ink stone / ink slab. We have seen similar pieces identified as Qing Dynasty She stone (a finely textured, layered stone named after the Shezhou Prefecture, where it was first produced). Ink stones are often called one of the four treasures of the scholars studio. This piece has a large ink grinding area, a water storing cavity and is inscribed on underside edges with Chinese characters: Li Xi Qiao (李希乔) person of the stone deer mountain (石鹿山人). Li Xi Qiao (李希乔) (1618-1683), also known as person of the stone deer mountain, was famous for his bamboo carving art pieces in the early Qing dynasty. In very good condition with minor imperfections as shown. Measurements: 6.9" by 4.6" by 2.4" (17.5 cm by 11.7 cm by 6 cm) approximately. Weight: 4.75 lbs. Item ID: 1705
