An antique cut and etched glass beer stein with pewter lid estimated to be c. late 1800's. The glass stein has 3 cut panels, one with 2 elongated cut ovals flanked by 2 etched panels of wheat, hops and foliage; nicely detailed. Glass has a few light scratches, no chips found. The ornate pewter lid has scenes of dwarfs cooking over an open fire, gardening, tapping a keg of beer and frolicking. The thumblift or thumb rest has a figural gentleman making a toast. It appears there may be a small, very well done repair made to the hand that holds the beer. The pewter lid has an acorn finial. This glass stein is in wonderful condition, no chips found. The thick glass base has age appropriate wear. Measures 9 1/8" tall to the finial on the lid. A fabulous collectible antique beer stein.
