Superb Antique 18th century Persian Breast Plate of Chahr Ayne armor made of solid Damascus steel. Decorated on the centre with a hand chiseled lobed cartouche with a gold border linear inhabited by mounted archers in pursuit of a lion enclosed by two smaller cartouches enclosing antelopes. Bounded by a broad band decorated in gold damascening and chased with seventeen cartouches containing various animals, retaining its original buckles for closure, an extreme edge with an applied brass band. The back of the armor is reinforced on the borders by four heavy steel plates with slight remains of its leather lining.
MEASUREMENTS: Height: 24.2 cm (9 1/2 in). Width: 19.7 cm (7 3/4 in).
CONDITION: Signs of usage and wear. The damascus pattern is slightly visible and only in some areas.
