August-Hector Cabuzel (1836-1909) was an artist of the French school of realism. He specilised in portraits, genre scenes and landscapes. Cabuzelstudied under Horace Vernet, Lon Cogniet and Pils. Cabuzel's body of work includes Bowl, Banks of the Nile, Last Flowers, Indecision and Skein. His works come rarely into auction sales the last record comes from
London auction on 11 April 1995: Lady in her Boudoir (1873, oil on panel, 24 19 ins/63 48 cm) was sold for 7,475.00
