This is a beautiful oil painting on canvas, Circa 1850 in date and in it's original fabulous gilded, carved wood, foliate, Florentine frame.
It is a portrait of a demure classical woman that is seated holding an open book which displays the words " Vi Non Confyn Dar", which I believe means "I am not confused by strength".
