Antique or Vintage Nativity Figures Putz Germany Eleven Piece Set. This is a very old set, late 1800's to 1900's, much older the ones commonly seen from Germany. This set is made of what appears to be an early plaster or some sort of plaster and paper mache blend, very lightweight. It includes a wax Baby Jesus in the manger, Joseph and Mary, two Shepherds, three Wise Men and two Sheep. The kneeling figures are 3 7/8" tall, the standing figures are about 5 1/4" tall, the sheep are 2 7/8" tall and 3 1/4" long and the Baby Jesus is 1 5/8" long, manger is 1 7/8" tall and 2 1/2" long. These pieces are all hand painted, marked on the bottom with a purple Germany stamp. They are in good condition, given the age, all have some chips around the base, the tall standing black wiseman has his head glued on, both the shepherds have chunks missing as can be seen in the picture, the sheep have a flocked type covering both have a tiny bit of damage to one of the ears, Baby Jesus is in excellent condition, the manger has some chips on the legs and one leg has a repair. Very nice to display as is or could be professionally restored.
