This beautiful marble-top low table, hall or window bench features elaborate carved decoration and elements of both 17th century (French rococo) and 18th century (English Georgian) design. The cabriole legs are formed by two opposite "C" scrolls with classical masks with ram horns at the shoulder. The x-shaped stretcher is formed by four straight members ending in large scrolls, and is punctuated with an acorn finial. The frieze is decorated with leafy scrolls. Believed to date from the late Victorian period, it is likely either of English or American origin. Measures 27" wide, 17" deep and 18.25" high.

Additional images gladly forwarded upon request.

This item comes from the collection of Roni Steinberg Sokoloff and resided in her former 63-acre estate in Bedford New York known as Cantitoe Farms. (Formerly known as Sycamore Farms, the estate is down the road from Martha Stewart's home by the same name.)
