What could be more environmentally correct than this leaf & fern patterned cheese keeper made c1885 in France by the famed pottery Co. of Villeroy & Boch. Think green! It is part of a large series of Victorian Majolica made by this firm. Please see the photo where I have placed it on 2 respected Majolica reference books. The conditions is excellent but there are a few minor issues one being a small area of restoration to a fern leaf on the bell's top and a corresponding one on its underside. There is crazing to the center of the underplate as well as a 3" hairline and 3 nicks to its rim. That's it. Quite inconsequential when it comes to Majolica of this age. Ultra shiny unblemished glaze!! It looks fantastic & displays well. 8" high (total) 7" high (dome) x 10.75" wide (underplate) 8" wide (dome)......To view MORE FINE MAJOLICA I have listed, just click on the "VIEW THIS DEALER'S OTHER ITEMS" button on the left, then type MAJOLICA into the search box....Canadians will pay applicable taxes...... Long time member of "Majolica International Society"... ..Tracked & insured shipping to addresses in North America is $35 approx.
