Antique Lux Co. Asian Scene Shelf / Wall Clock

Unavailable
Distinctive antique shelf or wall clock, with oval design and hand-painted Asian landscape scene, produced by the Lux Clock Mfg. Co. of Waterbury, Connecticut circa 1928. This very interesting key-wound clock is made from pressed sawdust and glue/resin. A dark brown "frame" surrounds the clock "face" which has a turquoise background, raised numerals in gold, and an interior scene in turquoise, gold, and pink that depicts a Japanese pagoda, mountains, a curved bridge, and Asian flora. The back of the clock has a pebbly texture and is painted dark brown. This unusual clock measures approximately 16 inches high, 9.25 inches wide, and .75 inch deep, not including the clockworks; it weighs 4 pounds. The clock is designed to function as a table or shelf clock when the gold metal stand is utilized. The metal stand can be removed so that the clock can also be hung on the wall. The clock is in good condition, with light to moderate surface wear. There are a few small areas where paint, finish or pieces of decoration are missing. The clock is in working order. If allowed to run down, it sometimes needs a nudge of the gears to get it going again. It looks like there might be a small brass screw missing from the face of the clock, although the clockworks is very securely attached to the face. The winding key is not original but works very well. Please refer to the 4 photographs for appearance and condition. Shipping / packaging / handling will be $15.00.
