Antique Louis XVI Style Marble & Ormolu Mounted Center Table

This antique rectangular center table in the French Louis XVI style dates from the late nineteenth century. It features a variegated marble top and extensive gilt bronze mounts along the frieze, legs and feet. The frieze is decorated with bronze foliate garlands bordered by beeding, and a center plaque depicting cherubs among the clouds. It measures 39.5" wide, 23.5" deep and 30" high. The interior of the drawer measures 14.5" wide and approximately 12" deep. The drawer has hand- cut dovetails. The top rests upon rectangular tapered legs decorated with spiraling bronze mounts at each edge, and the legs end in capped feet. There are some losses to the bronze beading and spiraling mounts.
