Antique Louis XV Style Ladies Writing Marquetry Desk
This ladies kingwood writing desk in the Louis XV style dates from the nineteenth century and features beautiful floral marquetry inlay on front, top and sides, and dore bronze sabots and mounts along the cabriole legs. It measures 34.75" tall, 30.75" wide and 21" deep. The size of the desk surface area measures 25.5" by 22.5". Craftsmanship is very high. The drawers have hand-cut dovetails and string inlay. Original key. Condition is good. The desk is structurally sound with finish intact. There is some lifting and shrinkage cracking to the veneer inlay, consistent with age. One piece of ormolu but may be re-tacked into place. There are surface scratches noticeable on the left side, and light scratches and nicks throughout, all consistent with age. Maker is unknown.
