Antique Louis XV XVI Revival Marquetry Display Cabinet

Unavailable

This fabulous antique cabinet in the French Louis XVI style dates from the late nineteenth to early twentieth century. It has a lower cabinet with three doors and three drawers, a variegated marble top in the middle, and an upper cabinet with glass shelf and glass door with shelves flanking each side. It features brass galleries at the top and along the open shelves, extensive gilt bronze mounts including swags and rinceau among other motifs, plus expectional geometric parquetry designs, and a lovely marquetry design with musical theme including violin and music. It measures 68" high, 39" wide and 16" deep. The marble surface is 36.25" high. The upper display cabinet has an old string of sockets hidden by a brass plate, with wiring exiting the rear. This wiring with flexible cloth insulating sleeving dates prior to 1930 and should be replaced for safe use. Condition is excellent. There are no signs of repair and only some minor veneer losses here and there. This item resides in our client's gallery on the Upper East Side of Manhattan ( New York City ) and may be seen by appointment. Additional images forwarded upon request.
