This is a pair of antique English silver plate knife rests or knife holders made 1880-1900. This is a wonderful traditional design of tapered and turned bar with tap ends or jack ends. The knife rests measure 3.25 inches long by 1.5 inches high and are in superb, excellent, mint condition with no plate loss.
