18th century Indo Persian shield (buckler) made from hand forged steel damascened in silver and gold (worn out) with arabesque scrolls. The workmanship is excellent, the shield is well hammered the marks of the hammer used to shape the metal are clearly visible on the interior as seen in the picture, the surface of the shield is nicely smooth. The outer border is strengthened by riveted thin steel strips serrated and pointing inwards. In the center are four bosses, with the rings on the back of the shield for rope to hold the shield. Diameter; 9 1/4 inches (23 1/2 cm)
