A large antique 18th century Islamic Indo Persian steel shield Separ Dhal. Of circular convex form, etched over its entire surface with sixteen figures of Persian nobles, accompanied by lions on a foliate ground. The border adorned by eight oval cartouches containing Arabic calligraphic script, an extreme edge reinforced by an applied brass band. A centre set with four domed bosses, with bolts on the back for a rope (to hold the shield).
MEASUREMENTS: Diameter: 48.5 cm (19 1/8 in).
CONDITION: In very good condition.
