Large antique Indo-Persian steel shield Separ, 18th -19th century, Qajar dynasty. Of circular convex form decorated on the center with Arabic calligraphy, surmounted with cartouches containing human figures in Persian costumes and foliage. A broad band with eight lobed cartouches containing calligraphic Arabic script, on a foliate ground. A centre with four domed bosses with bolts on the back for rope (to hold the shield).
MEASUREMENTS: Diameter: 50 cm (19 3/4 in).
