Antique Indian Jharokha Carved Wooden Balcony

Unavailable

This is a magnificent, antique hand-carved Jharokha window balcony, circa 1880-1890, which is believed to come from the Punjab or Rajasthan regions in the northwest India. Measures approximately 8 feet wide x 7 feet high x 18 inches deep. This piece was imported from India at least 30-35 years ago and up until recently has been on display at a restaurant in Manhattan. It's being sold here on behalf of the new owner of the restaurant. It features a large center window and smaller windows on left and right. This piece would make an impressive artistic statement as a mounted wall decoration in any home or restaurant with an Indian, Anglo-Indian or other Asian decor.

Additional images forwarded upon request.

Overall condition is very good. There is little damage to any of the delicate carved details and the original metal hardware is present. The piece was refinished many years ago. The finish has chipped away or deteriorated from a modest-sized section in the middle and upper parts of the left side. Rear is supported with a 3/4" plywood frame, and the three windows are secured by screws in the closed position.
