Antique Russian Sword Shashka Kuban Cossack, 19th Century [E240] Authentic antique 19th century Russian Kuban Cossack sword 'Shashka'. DETAILS: A long and broad slightly curved single edged blade with a wide full-length fuller. A hilt made of brown bone grips-scales with a hooked bifurcated pommel retained by two iron rivets.
CONDITION: The sword is in good condition except for a small crack in one of the horn scales near the lower rivet and some minor pitting to the blade.
MEASUREMENTS: Overall length: 90 cm (35 3/8 inches). Length of the blade: 74.5 cm (29 3/8) inches.
On the base of this sword was designed the Government Issue 1904 Pattern trooper's KUBAN COSSACK Shashka and mass produced by the Zlatoust Arms Factory, except that this is an older 19th century version of the Kuban Cossack sword.
