Antique 17th century German executioner’s axe, iron head deeply stamped with three maker's marks and decorative pellets, integral facetted socket with shortened oak haft.
CONDITION: in good condition with nice age patina.
MEASUREMENTS: Overall length: of the axe is 55.5cm (21 ¾ in) in a straight line. The length of the blade is 13 inches (33 cm)
REFERENCES: Very similar axe is published in the book “The Lyle official Arms and Armour revive 1977” Page 163 with description ‘A 16th/17th century German executioner’s axe’. The photocopy of the page from the book will be provided to the buyer with the certificate of authenticity
