Rare Antique French Napoleonic infantry officer sword - SABRE DE MINEUR, DIT “PETIT MONTMARCY” (1786 – 1815).

According to the book “Sabres Francais 1680 – 1814” –by CHRISTIAN BLONDIEAU. Page 33 and page 40, these types of sabers were used by the French army from the time of the Revolutionary war to 1815.

Details: A well made three - bar gilt brass basket guard hilt with a side - guard, retaining its original wooden grip covered with red fabric and bound with a double brass wire with a plane brass backpiece. A sturdy single edged tapering blade cut with a broad full-length fuller and a slender fuller along the back-edge.

CONDITION: The sword is in very good condition considering its age.

MEASUREMENTS: Overall: 80.6 cm (31 3/4 in).
