Antique French Empire Period Bronze Chariot Clock

This beautiful ormolu bronze clock in the French Empire style dates from the first quarter of the nineteenth century, and features a circular movement with silk suspension (pendulum is missing) and outside countwheel, with putti charioteer and horses with blue and white enamelled porcelain inset eyes. Movement is possibly by C. de Allier à Paris. The rectangular base is raised on four claw feet. It measures 19" wide and 16" tall. There are some cracks in the enamel face, and a replaced screw on one of the harnesses on the horse. There is no back plate. This item resides in our client's gallery on the Upper East Side of Manhattan ( New York City ) and may be seen by appointment. Additional images forwarded upon request. ( hantiques )
