Extraordinary, large historical engraving elegantly framed in a light gold leaf gilded wood frame. It is entitled "Lady Washington's Reception Day," also known as "The Republican Court," by engraver Alexander Hay Ritchie after the 1861 painting by the same name by artist Daniel Huntington. The original painting is part of the collection of the Brooklyn Museum. A picture that makes a room. See attached list of guests portrayed and key. Provenance: from the estate of prominent Lexington, Virginia family. Toning and staining partly concealed by mat and imperfections to gilt frame as shown. Shipped fully insured with tracking number.
