Antique Flemish Art Pyrography 17.5 Inch Basket

Unavailable
Antique Flemish Art pyrography 17.5 inch basket. Flemish Art, the popular Victorian hobby of pyrography or the burning of designs on wooden surfaces, was named for the Flemish Art Co. which produced blanks (boxes and other items) and pyrographic tools for the hobbyist. This item features a poinsettia design on the exterior and a ribbon bow design on the interior. The sides are laced together with what appears to be a silk lace with metal ends. The decorated sides appear to be made like plywood, with a solid wood core and adhered patterned wood veneer on each side. This basket measures approximately 17.5 inches high, 10.5 inches wide and 10 inches deep at the top, and 7 inches square at the bottom. It weighs a little over 4 pounds. The piece is in good to very good condition, intact, with some surface wear and some wear to the laces. There is some scuffing and discoloration on the inside, and on one side there is some loosening of the interior veneer. Please refer to the 4 photographs for appearance and condition. Shipping / packaging / handling will be $13.50.
